One of the first activities introduced at makethatmove.in, table tennis has been on a roll with Mr. Asif Haque, an 18 time champion as the primary faculty member. We are looking for new students to enroll. This could be the new year resolution that becomes a habit!
A student who had taken up vocals ended up singing 'Squirrels' and producing 'New Starry Night' both for 'Layers of Music', a venture that believes in making music with simplicity with anyone who can read. Wouldn't it be nice to train to perform on stage or sing in the studio?
The first year batch comprises students who've appeared for their 'Prarambhik' exam and are now working on 'Mangalacharan'. We have 5 spots opened up for you. In case you had dropped it or you feel you're ready, do join in again.
The class starts with a few puzzles followed by a quick game and an analysis. We intend to have our students participate in some tournaments in 2025. And there are only 2 spots left. Hurry up and join the batch!
A few days after the first song was out, Arpita, Pratyasha and Prinjal took the initiative of working on another song. Arpita and Pratyasha showed up for a workshop on World Music Day, 21st June and we picked Yaman Kalyan as the raag for the evening. Prinjal assisted with the lyrics as usual and they made their trainer sing the song. Mixing and mastering followed and it was out soon. This was the first time the team composed and wrote an entire song based on a raag and used alankaars at some places.New Starry night is now out on Spotify and other platforms.
The song 'Squirrels' was initiated by a workshop from 'Layers of Music'. We asked the students to come up with some notes and started improvising. Within minutes, we had a melody. Then we started writing lyrics with some random words picked by our students. We were wondering how to connect 'clouds', 'guava tree', 'squirrels' and 'change'. The next step was recording it, mixing and mastering it and releasing the song on Spotify and other platforms. While Prinjal Agrawal assisted with the writing, Arpita Mohapatra sang the song with our trainer Aashutosh Nath, who also happens to run 'Layers of Music'.
We are all set for the next Potential Show. When a participant signs up for the challenge, he/she gets to pick one or more activities in the form. There is a meeting with the trainer(s) after that.
The trainers will have an interaction before the first class to check the student's exposure to the activities. It will be followed by a series of sessions with our trainers before the final assessment.
In 'The Potential Show', the trainers will test them again and grade them accordingly in front of an audience and a jury. The event will go live on zoom. The participant with the maximum improvement in an activity wins.
What if a pumpkin comes alive and chases you? Find out in this video.
The first season of The Potential Show is on this playlist. Please feel free to look at some performances while you're scrolling.
In this performance of The Layers of Music Show, we have 2 students who recently secured distinction in their first attempt at Trinity College London Exam Initial Grade for Electronic Keyboard. They helped us compose with the audience on the spot.
On 29th October, 2023, The Layers of Music Show opened with Guru Surendra Mahapatra on the Pakhawaj and Ashutosh Nath on the Keyboard.
When we tested the idea of 'The Potential Challenge Show' with our current members, we got some questions. Here we go.
As of now, we have Yoga, Chess, Keyboard, Vocals, Stop motion animation, Table Tennis, Odissi and Art and Craft. After the consultation, the participant gets access to 3 activities.
Sure, they can. The parameters will be the same for them, but they will have to refrain from the physical sessions of the same activities at other schedules at the training zone.
And yes, there is a discount of 50%. The members have to pay ₹3000 only.
Yes, it is. We decided to look beyond physical sessions at our training zone and open up to the rest of the world and take our chances.
Not if someone has improved better than him or her. Let's take Chess, for example. Participant 'A' had no idea about the pieces and participant 'B' knew how to play in the first session. On the show, even if 'A' solves 2 puzzles and 'B' solves 3 of the same level, 'A' wins.
